⚡️Power Your Purpose⚡️
Are you living on purpose? This sounds like a cliche saying but it is a good question to reflect on and think about. Each one of us was made for a specific purpose by God. Collectively, we were made to glorify God but each of us has a different purpose to pursue and achieve to point people to God and who He is. As God reveals to us our purpose, it is so important that we do exactly what He shows us to do with consistency and diligence, powering our purpose daily. That means that our behaviors, thoughts, and actions should always be in alignment with the purpose that we are filling.
Throughout the book of Nehemiah, we see Nehemiah pursuing his purpose continuously. Nehemiah was given the task to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem for God’s chosen people, the Israelites. The first portion of pursuing purpose is to know that it goes beyond you. Nehemiah’s work of rebuilding the wall was not just for himself but would have an impact on more than 40,000 people! (Nehemiah 7:66) Do you realize that when you are operating in your purpose even the everyday mundane things that you do have the ability to have a lasting impact?
Nehemiah and those who helped him rebuild the wall worked day in and day out to get the wall built. The wall that began as rubble became a symbol to the Israelites and all who saw it of what could be accomplished with God’s help. It is so easy to want to quit when things get boring, hard, or redundant. Our purpose will not always feel exciting and fun; challenges and frustration are certain to come as we go for the things that God made us for. When we get serious about the pursuit of our God-given purpose, expect challenges but do not fear them. As Nehemiah made progress in building the wall the challenges popped up and not just once but persistently. As Nehemiah built the wall, those who were opposed to the work he and the Israelites were doing tried repeatedly to stop the work. Nehemiah knew his purpose and refused to come down (Nehemiah 6:1-5).
Challenges and obstacles to your purpose can be fear, procrastination, distraction, the negativity of those around you. Don’t ignore the challenges, address them head-on in the same way Nehemiah did and stay consistent with the purpose that God has given you!
